Suspected cultists have been said to have shot two young men dead in Akwa,Anambra state, on Sunday night,April 18.
One of the victims has been identified as Anthony Onwudinjo, since he is a fitness instructor in a gym.
It was disclosed that Anthony was shot four times at a close range right in his mother’s presence that night.
The second victim who was identified as Nnamdi was also shot dead at the UNIZIK Temporary Site.
Anthony, had a masters degree, and was also a ward councillor from Obeledu Anaocha local government area of Anambra.
The State’s Police Command spokesperson, Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident on Monday, April 19, and then gave a statement that five suspects have been arrested in connection with the killings.
“The Police Operatives have arrested five suspects who have connections with the cult-related killings that occured on Sunday, 18th April.
The incident that took place resulted in the death of two young men at Miracle Junction by Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
“Soon as the matter was heard Police Operatives quickly mobilized themselves to the scene. On the police arrival the hoodlums began to zoom off.
During the chase by the police operatives, (5) five suspects were arrested and investigations are been carried out to make sure other fleeing members of the gang are arrested and brought to justice.”he added.
